The cookie is the pass that keeps your photos attached to you if you come back later. Every one is first-party and every one is needed to give you the thing you came for. We also count page views on our own server so we can see which pages help; that keeps nothing on your device, and there is no advertising, no third-party script and no tracking pixel anywhere on this site or in the app.
Why this page does not offer you a choice
Before a site stores or reads anything on your device that is not strictly necessary for the service you asked for, European law (ePrivacy / TDDDG § 25) asks for your permission. What matters is the purpose, not whether it is a cookie. Everything below — including the one cookie we set, spr_id, which remembers who you are so your photos come back to you — is strictly necessary. So the law asks us to tell you about it, here, rather than to ask permission for it. If we ever added something optional (say, an advertising pixel), you would be asked first, and nothing optional would run until you answered.
Things we deliberately do not use
- Third-party analytics — no Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Matomo, no vendor of any kind. Our own page counter is first-party and is listed in the table above.
- Advertising & social pixels — no Meta pixel, no conversion tags, no retargeting.
- Third-party fonts — our fonts are served from our own servers, so no request ever leaves for a font provider.
- Embedded payment scripts — paying takes you to Stripe's or PayPal's own page, so their software never runs on ours.
- Email open tracking — our messages contain no tracking pixel.
Your controls
- Global Privacy Control — if your browser sends it, we treat it as a no to anything optional, and we will not ask again.
- Clear everything — clearing site data and cookies in your browser removes every value listed above. In the guest app that also signs you out of your film roll, which is the point.
- Change your mind — the Cookies link in the footer opens your settings from any page, in one click.
